Mosquito Nets for Doors

A door mosquito net is a hinged screen mounted on its own aluminum frame beside your existing door. It swings open like a normal door when you walk through, and magnets along the edge pull it shut behind you automatically — no need to close it by hand.

Best for: front doors, kitchen exits to a garden or balcony, and garage side doors — any doorway people walk through repeatedly through the day, where a screen has to close itself reliably or insects get in every time someone forgets.

Compared to pleated nets: a pleated net also handles doorways, by folding sideways into a cassette. A hinged door screen swings on hinges instead, so it needs no side pocket or fold clearance at all, which matters on doors set close to a wall or corner where there is no room for a cassette. The trade-off is that a hinged screen occupies swing space in front of the door, the same way the door itself does.

Fitting around your threshold: the frame is built to the exact height and width of your door opening, including the gap above the threshold, so the bottom of the mesh clears the floor without dragging. On doors with an uneven or raised threshold, that measurement is taken on site rather than estimated, since a few millimetres out is the difference between a smooth close and a screen that catches on the floor.

• Does it swing both ways, in and out? It is fitted to swing the same direction as your existing door, so it does not fight the door itself when both are used together.
• Will the magnets wear out or lose their pull? The magnetic strip is continuous along the full height of the frame, not a few small points, so a slightly weaker section does not stop the door from closing.
